Rounders: Run around Race - Th...

Simple throw and run race, from the starting cone to the finish cone (drill is ended when a player stumps the cone).Teams of 4 (or more) players stand in a line, with the first player with the ball in hand. On the coach's call the first player turns and throws the ball to the next player.Once the ball has been thrown this player runs to the back of the line, awaiting their next turn to catch and throw.The winning team is the first one to reach cone B.

Set up a pitch using cones that is roughly the same size as a netball court (30m x 15m) and divide your players into two equal teams.Players <span style=&quot;text-decoration: underline;&quot;>can run in all areas of the pitch but they are not allowed to run with the ball.Players must try to get the ball to a player in the shooting circle for them to score a point.

Set up a line of 3 balls 10 metres apart. Place a cone 10m from the first and last balls.Player A starts on the first cone and runs and picks up the first ball with 2 hands, assume the &quot;set throw&quot; position, and throws to player B on the other cone.Player B retreats 10m and puts the ball down.Repeat with the other 2 balls as above. Then your partner will throw back to you.Repeat the process.

Players work in pairs and have 3 cones between them. They set up their own golf course with the cones.The aim is to help the players judge distances.Each player takes alternate turns to roll the ball to the 1st hole (cone 1). Each player counts how may rolls it takes to hit the cone.The player with the least number of rolls to hit all three cones is the winner.More holes (cones) can be introduced.

1 player hits 4 balls anywhere into the field. Once the batter has hit all the balls they run around all 4 posts as many times as possible, before the fielders get all the balls back into the square.

Throwing Rounders Conditioned ...

Split your players into two teams. The fielding side will need a bowler, a back stop and a player on first base. The rest of the fielders can stand where they like.This game start with a bowl to the hands of the first <em>batting </em>player. The batting player should stand with open hands and catch the ball before throwing it into the fielding area.After throwing the ball out the batting player runs around as many bases as they can.Rules:Players score a point for their team for every complete run they make. Players can be caught or run out in the normal manner.Each player has two goes each before the teams swap around.

Player 2 throws the ball straight-up and player 1 has to run in and catch it before returning the ball back to player 2. Player 1 continues to run around the cone before running back to receive another high feed from player 2. On catching the ball player 1 takes up 2s original position before the next person in the queue starts.

Split group into 2 - Batters and fielders.Setup as shown above.Each batsman will either pass or throw the ball into the fielding area and run around the bases immediately to score. Nobody can be caught out.To get a batter out, fielders must get the ball to a player standing in the bowling area whilst the batter is running between the bases. If a batter reaches the safety of a base, before the ball reaches the bowling area, that player cannot run again until the ball is passed by the next batter.

Set up: Players in the middle (players 2 and 3) stand back to back and opposite their partners (players 1 and 4), about 5 metres apart, but they gradually move further away up to a distance of 9 metres (this is distance from bowler to batter). Player work in teams of 4. The Game: Player throw the ball back and forth and are listening to instructions from the coach. Players are not allowed to move with the ball and are throwing underarm to their partner's waist.

Set up in 2's with 1 bat and ball.Player B must stand opposite to player A, so that they can see the end of the bat when the batters arm is fully outstretched.The aim of the game is for player A to hit the ball into space, and both players race to retrieve the ball first.Player B is in charge of the drill. They shout &quot;CLEAR&quot;. On hearing this call player A self feeds the ball and hits it safely into space.Whoever reaches the ball first is the next player to hit the ball.If you get to the ball 3 times in a row you win a point.

Once the batter has hit all 4 balls into the field, all of the batters on the batting team must run around all the bases at the same time, as many times as they can before all of the balls have been returned by the fielding team. The next batter then does the same, and all of the batters run when all 4 balls have been hit. Do this for each batter on the batting team, before the fielding team goes in to bat. Winner is the team with the most rounders scored.

4 batters and 4 feilders. Player self hits the ball between the 1st and 2nd post (cones) all fielders have to remain on the out field until the ball is hit. The batter has to try and run around 1st post and back to the batting cone to score a rounder. The fielders are trying to score a point by touching the batting cone with the ball before the batter does

Players stand in teams behind their cone, with a ball each.When the coach says 'Go' each player rolls their ball out diagonally, through the cones nearest their starting position.After rolling out their own ball (along the ground) players must sprint out and collect the ball thrown by the other side.As soon as they have collected the ball they must sprint back with the ball in hand past the starting cone.The coach decides which player makes it back first and awards their team one point.

The position of the back stop can be close or far behind the batter. The positioning helps the batter decide where to bowl.

Kick Ball Rounders Conditioned...

Set up: Pitch marked out in the same shape as a normal rounders pitch with cones 6m apart. Split players into two small teams (no more than 5v5). Use a size 4/5 size sponge/plastic ball Rules: The bowler throws the ball underarm with a bounce from the bowling box to the batting box. The batter can hit the ball with any part of their body. Once the batter has hit the ball they then run around the 4 bases. They can stop at any base. The fielders then field the ball into the bowler to stop the batter from running on. Gradually more rules are introduced once the principles of play have been learned.

Split the group into teams of 5. One team throwing the ball around posts. One team running around the posts. The ball starts by the batting square and has to be thrown to post one then 2 then 3 then 4 then back to the batting square. The running team have to run and tag. The first player in the batting square has to run to tag 1st post player this player has to run to release the player at 2nd post etc until the player on the forth post is tagged and runs back to the batting square. Start again when ball and players are back in position again. Best of 5 runs.

This clip shows you the batter being run out at first post. The batter has struck at a good bowl but missed the ball and has to run to first post. The back stop having caught the ball throws the ball to the first post player who catches and touches the post with the ball before the batter reaches the same post.

4 players 3 balls 1 worker 3 feeders. Feeder 1 throws the ball along the floor for the worker to barrier stop the ball and feed back. the next feeder then throws up a high ball for the worker to catch and return before the last player throws a straight ball into the body to be caught and returned. Next the start again at the beginning. swap after 3 times round.

Set up 3 small teams and 3 hoops. The hoops should be placed an equal distance apart with several balls in each (dependant on number of players). The aim of this game is to get rid of all the balls in your hoop one by one by moving them to another team's hoop. Players must carry the ball and place it inside the other team's hoop (no throwing or rolling the ball).

Get players into groups of 3. One player stands behind the other two players who have their back to them. On the command, <em>'Now'</em>, the player with the ball throws the ball. The two catchers have to both turn quickly and try and catch the ball before it bounces. Rotate players after 10 throws.

Fielding team has 1 player by each post and back stop with one fielder standing in the field beyond the 1st post. ( you can vary each time) Player with a ball in the batter square has to throw the ball into the direction of the deep fielder. after which this player should try to run a a rounder ( to 4th post)all fielders should run to line up behind the fielder on 3rd post to relay the ball all the way down the line to try and beat the runner.

1 catcher, 5 attackers, and 3 defenders. Cones, tennis ball or rounders ball.There are always more attackers than defenders.Catcher starts in the inner circle and is on the same team as the attackers. The 3 defenders are in the next ring, and the rest of the attackers are in the outer ring.The attackers aim to get the ball to the catcher, and for the defenders to try and intercept.Attackers may pass the ball around the outside of the circle to each other to create space.Teams can move but must stay in their own circle. They are not allowed in anyones else's.Underarm throwing only.Points System: Defenders 1 point for a touch, and 5 points for a catch. Attackers get 1 point every time the catcher receives the ball.

To Score or not to score

If I am stood at first post when second post is tagged, the ball is then thrown somewhere else but miss fielded (not the bowler square) and I run on and get all the way around tagging fourth do I score?

If a batter makes contact with a post and then 'swings' around moving past the 2m run off line whilst still holding the post should an umpire ask the batter to run on or due to the fact they made contact with the post before passing the 2m run off line are they 'safe'?
