any ideas of drills that can be used for primary and secondary pupils for passing backwards? currently having an issue with them staying onside and keeping behind the ball carrier
Hi Alex,
Passing backwards can be a difficult concept for young children to understand. You could try lining them up on a line of cones, with the second line of cones about 1 meter in front of them. Say that they must run out to the other cones but can only pass once they reach the second line of cones. And they are not allowed to move off the first line until they have the ball.
Once they get better and better you could start adapting the drill to get more and more like the one below. They might enjoy the aspect of going to ground and it starts to teach them another essential rugby skill.
