Hi Chloe

The below is breakdown of the clip hit performed in a static motion. This lets your players get used to the feel of the new grip and positioning of the hands.

Once they are confident with the grip, you can start practicing this with a shuffle lead up to the ball, a good skill to utilise when you need to get a shot away on goal quickly.

Grip for a clip hit:

  • ‘V’ between thumb and index finger runs down the edge of the stick
  • Right and left hand should be touching, this way they work together
  • Hands are placed approximately half way down the grip

Stick, ball and body positioning

  • Place the stick behind the ball to give yourself a reference point
  • The ball should be in line with the left heel
  • Left should should be facing your partner
  • Knees bent and the head should be positioned in line with the ball, not over it
  • Raise the stick - firstly with the arm and then follow with the hands

Hope this helps! John
