what the best plan for changing players on the bench with field players? I have a team of 11 years old boys, changing players makes it all a bit messy and confusing
hi, one way is to have a set time on the field, eg depending on number of reserves 5 ,7.5 or 10 minutes. Players sub after that time slot, If you have a manager let them keep time and you can provide guidance to player coming off and player going on, whilst still watching the game rather than your watch. If the players know they will be subbed on/off they will stop asking " is it time yet?".
Have a plan on how you wish to sub, tell the team this is how we are going to run (parents as well- otherwise why didn't my jonny get as much time as billy etc!!!!!) and stick to it, once the team knows how you intended to run subs, it does become easier.
PS players at that age will ahve favourite positions but they should be exposed to all the postions to learn the game, so you may sub against someones prefered position, but thats how they will learn
