Why does the covering defender not stay off the left shoulder of the front defender?
Hi Mary,
In the Cover Defence drill, the covering defender does not stay off the left shoulder of the front defender to ensure effective tracking and mirroring of the front defender's movements. The covering defender stands 5 meters behind the front defender and tracks their direction of movement to provide a second line of defense if the attacker gets past the first defender. This positioning allows the covering defender to react quickly and maintain a balanced defensive structure.
