The drill where 3 defenders have to get the ball through 2 attackers (who can't move unless their ball is in the coned square) works really well for me. Also, if you play with 4 defenders / midfielders who you want to switch play, I tell the two in the middle to stand in a diamond formation, so that both can get their body position correct for the stop and switch, which should speed up the transfer... Hope that makes sense...
