What drills can I use to help my right post, she keeps missing the ball
Apologies if this seems a basic answer ,but does she do the basics properly? Look at her setup and positioning to recieve the ball. Ie is she in the right position - eg is she early or late to the spot you wish her to be in?; is she physically in the correct position- does she need to realign her body to better receive and trap?; is her stick on the ground not up in the air?; is she watching the ball onto her stick?; is she using soft hands/stick to trap or is she poking forward with her stick and causing a rebound/deflection. I know this is basic, but if its all wrong then its hard to do the other stuff well.
If she is all ok , but its just the trapping that is letting her down then , hitting a ball at a kerb or wall 3-4 feet away and trapping the rebound for 5 minutes each day will improve the hand /eye and feet movement. I still do this when things are slow at practice and it does help keep your eye in.
cheers and good luck
Ian
Hi,
An follow up on Ians answers, Is she afraid of the ball. If this is the issue than everything Ian has wrote down wont help you, although what he wrote down is good
I would first find out if she is the right person on the right spot, then I would start with one on one practice to give her more confidence on bieng on the post.
