Scaffolding Defenders

Hello. I would like help with the following please:1) what does it mean when the final pass is not played through the defence but alongside it?2) Also doing a 3v0 scaffold drill? Then progressing onto 3v2 and then onto 4v3 with height and depth?Any advice will be amazing. Thank you!

Not sure if all your issues have been solved, but let me know if you need any further advice?
Also, can i ask what you mean by scaffolding? I`ve not heard that term used before.
