This has been answered elsewhere as well. It's all about when you start pressing the opposition. The term comes from basketball, and it's probably worthwhile watching examples from that sport to give you a good idea. Essentially, it's all about when you start to pressure the ball carrier (half court = half way line, full court = all over the pitch, 3/4 = between the half way and the 25).
