I need a drill to get the juniors to use the width of the pitch and not keep playing down the middle.
Hi Mark,
Try using the search bar, on the top right of the page, to find drills and ideas to help your juniors.
Here's a search we just tried for "wide" which came up with some really good suggestions for drills you could try with your team to add a bit of width to their game!
All the best,

there's a drill called 'Hockey Tennis'. 2 Teams, both teams have to stay on their own side of the 'no go zone' using half a pitch. Their objective is to get the ball over the end line of the opposing team. It encourages width as passing the ball wide will fool the other team and make it easier.
Play a mini game with a 'no-go' area marked in the middle of the pitch (if half pitch game approx 15m x 15m) - players can pass through the box if they don't have the ball but they can't pass the ball, recieve the ball or dribble with the ball through the box - this will force them to use the width - do this often enough and eventually it will become second nature to your team not to keep going down the middle.
