What skills to improve my advanced colts team?

What skills to improve my advanced colts team?

(Question submitted by email) I'll be coaching a new team over the next few months. What skills should I use to take them to the next level? Any suggestions?

I would suggest that each training is very purposeful and to the point, 

For simple topics:

  • Shooting
  • Passing on the move
  • Rules for 2 v 1
  • Small possession games

More complex topics:

  • Defending in pairs ( support and cover)
  • Attacking Support practices
  • Positional possession
  • Small sided conditioned games (to emphasise Marking man to man and zonal, half court and full court press)
  • And of course short corners.

Lastly, remember the best coach is the game itself!
