How to get defenders coming to players/the ball?
Ideas on drills to get defenders to go to the player or the ball not waiting for them to come to them.

Here`s a nice drill to use that makes the defender take a proactive approach to closing down the ball carrier and force them onto the forehand.

You can put this into practice in small-sided game play by making a goal with flat markers on the half way line (5m wide coming in from the side line) and give bonus points if a team dribbles through them. This forces the defending to step up and close the goal off early!
