I coach both adults and juniors and find that it is very hard to get them to make another run once they have initially moved into a certain space, any simple drills for this?

We have a number of support drills which could be of use to your players to encourage them to continue working after they've played the initial pass.
Alternatively a favourite of ours is to play a conditioned game (below) where players must support their own pass. They don't always have to receive the return pass but it encourages players to support the man in front.

That game also good for getting players on the non ball side to recognise when team mates have "got ahead" and balance up the defence if necessary, especially if it is deep players leading through i.e. prepare to defend when not directly involved in the attacking phase..
