Hi, Have to deliver a coaching session for my university task with 2 other people (20min long) to a group of school kids (under 8's) with no experience or very little. Need some advice as to what is best to start with (drills etc). here are some guidelines:
1. What skill are you focusing on? 1 skill only
2. What are your 2 coaching points?
3. How will you structure the warm-up, skill practice (plus progression) and conditioned game (what is this???)
Hi Darius,
1. Ok - the best thing to do is try the search bar. This should be at the top of the page - this will find you drills, answered coach's questions and lesson plans. Alternatively click drills (on the left) and search through skills by category (passing / shooting etc). The drills for juniors might be a good category to start looking through.
2. What are you hoping to improve? How are you going to teach players - so with passing for example ensure the tip of stick is pointing at your target after the pass (follow through).
3. This one is simply a matter of how can you make the practices harder (and easier) to suit the skill level of your players? Often this can be achieved by adding a defender, or increasing the distance of the pass.
Best of luck with your session, there's a wealth of information on site to help you, so please use the search bar up top to find inspiration - and let us know how you get on!
