I'm finding it really hard to find a practise relating to hit outs on a 16 for my over 35's squad. They are still very "grass" based players and I would like help in trying to find a drill that will show them that hitting the ball straight down the middle of the pitch to the opposition isn't the only option? Hope you can help Jax
hi Jax let this old fart (42) help if i can....seems the problem aint how they hit the ball but were they wanna hit it to! get them usin numbers like short corners. 1 = to the wing. 2 back to opposit deffender, 3 self pass, and the play ball over attackers stick, 4, well you get the idea. it will make your players more creative, and once they see the oppotion and use them, you'll be lovin the hard hit out opion. cheers sam. ps hopes ya can read my dyslexic writin.
Dear Jax You can have a look at the most read question in the answers section of sportplan. Bram
use a defender on the 16 and place two acting mid fielders on the 25 yard line opposite the deferner. one closer to the line and the other more central on the pitch. this is to help them get the ball from outside the 16/25 using triangular passing. the defender passes to the player closer to the line and with a first time pass passing to the mid fielder. the player to the line moves off the ball and the mid fielder does the same. stop exercise at the half way line and repeat it until the get used to it a little and then add a defender to add a little pressure to the exercise. i'm no master, but i hope it helps.
