Placement and consistency are basic requirements of tennis. To be successful, players need confidence in the shot and they have to know that they are able to execute it properly again and again. Basket feeding is a great opportunity to develop this confidence.
With better players and larger groups, coach can modify this exercise into rally (Players from Team A hit lobs and switch after one shot; Players from Team B hit overhead to the corner and switch after one). Competing to get proper number of balls in a row is a great tool to keep players focused and motivated.
