DESCRIPTION

Player A and player B play the points. Player A can't hit down the line from the forehand side.

COACHING POINTS

Cross court shot is the basic skill in tennis so it is not surprising that the best players in the world can keep the rally in this direction almost forever. Many juniors make a mistake by going down the line to early in the point and that is why they are losing a lot of matches. It is important to understand the benefits of hitting balls in the cross court direction and spend time on this aspect on each training session.

In this drill the player plays points but from the forehand side the player can only hit the ball in cross court direction. By placing this limitation coach can see what decisions the player makes to win the points. Additionally it creates an opportunity for the rival to prepare the shots because of the fact that he/she knows about this limitation so this drill is a great environment to work on different skills at the same time.
