Rugby: Tackle, Bounce, Jackal, Fire Drill

• Sausage 
• Cones

After you have completed the bounce motion, you can bounce and fire. 

Fire - is by any means effect there breakdown and slow the ball down - when you realise you cant steal the ball. 

Jackal - stay on and win the ball over the break down.  

• Players line up on the cones 
• the first play makes a tackle on the sausage get s up and becomes the defender. (jackal)
• the second player listens to the coloured cone the coach shouts and goes around that cone before trying to clear the (jackaler) 
• The jackaler makes the decion to Jackle or Fire through the break down depending on the speed of the arriving defender. 

• Groups of 3 
• Sausage 
• Ball

1 player lines up opposite a standing sausage, wrestles it to the floor, landing chest ontop of the bag. 

A 2nd play holding a ball puts the ball down on the right side of the sausage as if it was an attacker placing it. 

The first play wrestling the sausage, bouncers up and competes for the ball (remeber to release) 

The 3rd player once the ball has been placed tries to clear the player competing for the ball.

Groups of 4 and two groups of defenders with contact pads. 1 ball per group.

1. The ball carrier drives into the contact pads and presents ball backwards. Player 2 binds on, face to face and secures ball, player 3 binds on the other side to form a front row.
2. All attackers bind together and drive defenders back 2-3 metres. Player 4 takes ball out at back and runs back around cone with players 1-3 in support.
3. Repeat going back the other way until all attackers have practised each role.

• Set up a 5mx5m grid
• Work in fours - two attacker and two defender
• The ball is fed from a player from the 1st defending player who also holds the tackle pad and will simulate the ‘jackal’ threat player in the 2v2
• The first attacking player receives the ball and engages the pad holder and passes to the second attacking player
• The second attacking player engages the second defender (tackler) and bounces out to a weak shoulder
• The first attacking player (inside clear out) and the 1st defending player (jackler) then try and race to support
• The inside clear looks to support the attacker and clear out the jackler
