This session teaches players to use their passing skills to move around the court ready to deliver an effective attack in a game situation!
When players start off they often play with a "Get the ball over the net at all costs" strategy. However, as they mature and grow in confidence your team should learn to use a more patient style of play - looking to build the point using bump and set passing, allowing them to move into better attacking positions.
What's in the Session?
To help your players build better points and manoeuvre themselves into stronger attacking positions we work on passing consistency, getting players to pass the ball accurately in pairs. Starting with the set and slowly adding to the skill, finishing with a drill which brings it all together - developing a more sophisticated style of passing!
When the first pass breaks down, most teams collapse into a high ball straight into the opposing block. The best 2026 sides are building structured out-of-system offences that turn broken plays into scoring chances using libero sets, left-side options and disciplined hitter routes.
The modern pipe attack has evolved from a high middle-back set into a flat, fast weapon that arrives at quick tempo. Coaches at every level are now drilling it as a primary scoring option, forcing blockers into impossible decisions and unlocking four-hitter offences.
The back row attack adds a powerful offensive dimension that stretches the opposing block and creates scoring opportunities from unexpected positions. This guide covers the rules, approach footwork, setter-hitter timing, and progressive training methods for introducing back row attacks to developing teams.
