Hockey: 4 v 2 in area

Help your players make better decisions by scanning the field before and after they've received the ball!

A. Player 1 passes the ball to player 2.

B. Player 1 then follows his/her own pass.

C. Player 2 passes the ball back to player 1 for a wall pass back in the space

D. Player 2 runs onto the ball and has a shot at goal.

The blue team position themselves tactically around the area.

Players with the ball make a pass to one of the static players, looking to then receive the ball back again and then pass to the next static player.

Every player has a ball.

The designated leader (chosen by the coach) sets off in any direction with the ball. All other players must follow in the same direction.

On the command of STOP by the leader all the players have to stop and stand with the stick head in front of the ball.

Coach should check everyone's position and correct where necessary.

The leader then starts to move again but in a different direction.

The player with the ball passes the ball square to the other attacking player. Upon receiving the ball player 2 runs laterally across the defender, staying just out of reach. In the meantime player 1 has to run diagonally into the space behind the defender.

Player 2 has two options they can pass the ball into the space behind the defender for player 1 to run onto or player 2 can keep the ball and continue to run past the defender.

Player 2 can pass at any time and must run to be available for the return pass from player 1.
