DESCRIPTION

Players must set up as shown in the diagram. The ball is pushed out to the stopper at the top of the circle. The striker (Blue 3) picks up the ball and moves left and draws the runner (s) before passing to Blue 4 who has run into a position around the penalty spot. Blue 4 then deflects the ball back towards the striker that has run in a straight line towards the goal. The striker then lifts the ball over the prone goalkeeper.

Blue 6 runs into the far post to give another option if the move breaks down.

COACHING POINTS

Important that the striker (Blue 3) commits the runners before passing.

Blue 4 must try and get in a stationary position in front of the goalkeeper.

Ensure that the striker when receiving the deflection does not rush the shot.

OFTEN USED WITH...

The Drawbridge:

Line up for the short corner as shown above. The ball is pushed out to the stopper at the top. The striker then moves the ball to the right. Blue 4 looks like they are going to take the ball but dummies over the top of the ball and leaves it for blue 6.

Blue 6 picks up the ball and drives to the goal line before laying the ball back to score.

Set Pieces

Double Move left then cross to far post:

Players line up as shown in the diagram. The ball is pushed out to the top of the circle for the striker (Blue 3) to dummy over the top of the ball. The stopper then passes the ball to the left to Blue 5 who then passes to the injector who has made a lead in towards the goal before coming out to receive the ball.

The injector then passes the ball to Blue 6 on the far post to deflect the ball in.

Set Pieces

Open play short corner:

Set up as shown in the picture. The ball is pushed out towards the top of the circle, but on this occasion the stopper dummies to stop the ball but leaves it for the player backing up (Blue 7).

This player picks up the ball and passes the ball to the right (Blue 4), who in turn takes the ball into the circle to draw the defender before passing to the unmarked attacker (s) on either of the posts.

Slip right and Strike:

Players line up as shown in the diagram. The ball is pushed out to the stopper at the top of the circle. The ball is stopped and the striker moves in to pick the ball up off the stoppers stick and then passes the ball to the right to blue 6. They stun (stop) the ball for blue 4 to come in and strike the ball at goal.
