Description
Coach's objective :
To teach the drag from left to right prior to changing direction and accelerating away on the left side.
Purpose :
To exploit space on an opponent's open stick as a result of the defender denying the ball carrier the opportunity to drive to the right.
Structure :
Players work on their own.
Coaching points
Phase one
- Adopt a ski posture and look ahead (in the direction of the arrow)
- Move right to left with stick in contact with the ball
- Place the left foot on the turf and pivot on it (in the direction of the small curved arrow on diagram)
- Open the body to the right by moving the right foot (in the direction of the large curved arrow)
- Drag the ball as fast as possible using the reverse stick
- Open the body to the right by moving the right foot (in the direction of the large curved arrow)
- Drag the ball as fast as possible using the reverse stick
- Then change direction back to the opponents open side
- Accelerate away (to space) with the ball to the left
