Hockey: Reverse Stick Trap Technique

DESCRIPTION

- Receiving the ball on the reverse side, upright
- The ball should be rolled into the player at a fairly slow pace to begin with

COACHING POINTS

- Have players begin with their stick in the ground, in line with their back foot
- As the ball approaches, the stick should move away towards the front foot, cushioning the ball
- This motion should allow the ball to end up in a playing position

PROGRESSION

- Increase the ball pace
- Have the player receiving the ball attempt to move off in a different direction
- Add in a passive defender to increase pressure on the trap
