Hockey: Triangle passing

DESCRIPTION

The triangle has sides of 1 metre in length.

Player 1 passes the ball to player 2 . The receiver has to 1st touch the ball to one of the sides and returns the ball to the other player. Making sure that the ball doesnot travel through the same side of thetriangle which it arrived through.

COACHING POINTS

Players should try to keep going until a mistake is made.

OFTEN USED WITH...

Transfer the Ball and Support:

The player in the middle runs at the player with the ball and receives the ball. He then passes it to the other player and runs at this player until this players passes the ball back again etc.

Passing & Receiving

Three man weave:

Player 2 passes the ball to player 3(A).Player 3 receives the ball and runs infield with the ball allowing player 2 to run round the outside to overlap, player 3 then passes to player 1(B).

Player 1 receives the ball and runs infield to allow player 3 to run round the outside, player 1 then passes the ball to player 2(C).

This continues until a shot at goal.

Passing & Receiving

Using the support:

Player 2 runs to receive the ball from player 1 before then carrying the ball to the cones.

Player 2 then turns 180 degrees and passes the ball to player 1 who has followed their pass up the field to support. Player 2 then runs to the back of the other queue as players 1 receives the ball and then passes it across the area to the opposite line (white player 1).

Both queues should be working at the same time.

Passing & Receiving

Wall Pass:

1 Player starts with the ball and does not move.

The other player starts at the cone.

He / she runs at the player with the ball who passes the ball to the moving player who in turn, wall passes the ball back to them. Return to the cone, swap after 10x.
