DESCRIPTION

- Elimination Skills
- 1 Forward and 1 Defender
- Forward needs to dribble the ball through one of the gates. The defender has to try and win the ball
- The forward should have a set number of attempts and then swap with the defender

COACHING POINTS

- Drill is set up to encourage V-drag and Stutter step eliminations
- Player should use body position and head placement to disguise the movement
- Players should understand when they have beaten a player and begin the drive towards the gate

PROGRESSION

- Decrease the size of the area so the forward must eliminate under more pressure

Elimination Skills: Semi Opposed V-drag (Left to Right):

- Line of players one side
- One passive defender
- Players should utilise the V-drag left to right to eliminate defender
- Ball should remain under control through the gate

Eliminating a Player

Elimination Skills: Semi Opposed V-drag (Right to Left):

- Group of players at one end
- A set of coloured gates at the other
- Passive defender in the middle
- Players must utilise the V-drag from right to left to eliminate the defender
- The defender should make a move towards the player, and extend a flat stick challenge, but should not attempt to take the ball
- Ball should remain under control and dribbled through the red gate

Elimination Skills: V-Drag & Stutter Step:

- Elimination Skills
- Utilising V-drag and Stutter step
- Dribble towards the line of cones, using the V-drag to change direction
- Move towards the final cone at pace, and then reset from the start
- Run back towards the line of codes, using the stutter step before continuing in the same direction

Elimination From The Baseline:

Coaching Objective:

To give the attacker a selection of skills to be able to eliminate the defender when on the baseline in the circle.

Purpose:

When in a tight area in the circle and on the baseline, the attacker is in control of the situation, therefore having the skills to elimintate in such a dangerous attacking position will create threatening goal scoring opportunities.
