Hockey: Disguised upright passing

DESCRIPTION

- Two lines of players
- Use a disguised push pass to manoeuvre around the cones
- Pass should be played at 90 degrees

COACHING POINTS

- Pass should be received on the back foot
- Receiving player should be running slightly behind the player in possession so they can receive the ball on the move
- Manipulate number of players to maintain drill intensity

Commit Then Pass:

  • Setup as shown.

    • Player 2 runs diagonally from the right to the left hand goal, drawing the defender. The player then drags the ball across them from left to right before passing to the supporting player (Player 1).

    Changing of direction relay:

    Set out the cones as shown in the picture.

    Each side of the triangles are about 1m.

    They should be positioned in such away that the players exiting one traingle can run in straight line to into the next.

    The practice is that the players have to run in to one side of the triangle and exit through another side.

    Beat a player relay:

  • Setup as shown.

    • Player 1 passes the ball to player 2 who dribbles the ball into the box before dribbling out of one of the side of the box. Player 1 then passes the ball back to player 4 for the practice to start again.

    Dribble pass and run | Movement off the ball

    Dribble pass and run:

    Player 1 starts dribbling, player 4 makes a move to the right/left and there is a short wallpass between 1 and 4. After containing the ball it is passed to palyer 2 and then they start off and player 1 takes their place, and so on.
