Kids form two lines and don't have to stay with their partner each time up. Coach feeds from the winners' side. Coach will feed a short ball to approach on, then a volley, and then an overhead. The challengers must win the point in order to receive the next feed. If they lose that point or miss the feed, they go to the back of the line and the next two players in line come in and receive the short ball feed. If the challengers win all three points, they replace the two on the winners side.
Use this as a drill to teach aggression in approaching the net and closing as fast as possible. Keep the volley feeds low and force them to hit a tough volley deep in order to keep closing the net.
