DRILL TYPE: Hand-Eye Coordination FOCUS: Exercise to build up coordination with the students while including a tennis ball and cone. SKILL LEVEL: Red/ Orange Ball 1 EQUIPMENT: Bucket of red/foam balls Cones SETUP: The students will walk around the inside of the tennis court. The coach will position them selfâs on opposite side of the net in view of the students. For a small group use half of the court, for a larger group use full count with two coaches. DRILL: The students each have a tennis ball/ cone and given one half of a court as an area to walk around with their ball. On the coaches command, students will throw the ball up ( not to high) and catch in the cone while continuing to walk around their designated area.
Coach can progress the commands to make the drill easier or more challenging. Throw the ball up but allow the ball to bounce before itâs caught. Throw the ball up with one hand and catch it with the other hand. Throw the ball up with one hand and catch the ball after one bounce in a cone.
