Set up: Throw out all the spots. Give each kid a basketball.
How to play: Each kid is on one spot with their ball. When the coach says "Lava" players must quickly run to find a new spot and escape their island. Once on a new island, a skill is performed ie. bounce and catch, throw and catch, roll the ball around your feet, put the ball on your head/ear/nose etc. Repeated until the last skill which is a shot in the basket.
Why every session should start close to the basket. Form shooting builds the muscle memory that makes all other shooting possible.
From World Cup qualifiers to rule changes and global development initiatives, basketball continues to grow worldwide. Here's what 2026 has in store.
Talent wins games, but chemistry wins championships. Building a positive team culture, establishing shared values, and developing trust creates teams that exceed the sum of their parts.
