πŸ† Junior Basketball Competition – Week 8: FINALS DAY


🧠 Team Chat (2 mins)


  • Welcome players to Finals Day!
  • Remind them of today’s goals: play hard, play fair, and have fun.
  • Encourage positive energy and teamwork β€” win or lose.


πŸ”₯ Warm-Up (10 mins)

Drill: 3-Man Weave (Half Court)

  • Keep the energy high with clean, sharp passes and communication.
  • Run 3–5 full rotations.
  • Finish with light shooting to settle nerves before the game.


πŸ€ Finals Game – First Half (18 mins)


  • Full-court 5v5 game.
  • Coaches referee while guiding strategy.
  • Focus on teamwork and fundamentals built over the last 7 weeks.
  • Use rotations to ensure all players get fair time.


πŸ§ƒ Half-Time Chat (5 mins)


  • Reset, regroup, and encourage.
  • Coaches can set a clear goal for the second half (e.g. stronger defence, more passing).
  • Water break and quick motivational talk.


πŸ€ Finals Game – Second Half (18 mins)


  • Continue game play with intensity and focus.
  • Encourage kids to enjoy the experience and support each other.
  • Rotate players to ensure fairness and inclusion.


🧘 Cool Down & Stretch (2 mins)

  • Static stretches: quads, calves, hamstrings, shoulders.
  • Deep breathing and claps for both teams.


πŸŽ‰ Post-Game Presentation & Awards (5 mins)

Celebrate and recognise effort and growth.

  • πŸ† MVP Trophy: Announce the player with the most points across all 8 weeks. Present the trophy.
  • πŸ‘ Sportsmanship Trophy: Recognise the player who consistently demonstrated teamwork and positivity. Present the trophy.
  • πŸ₯‡ Winning Team: Hand out medals and certificates. Team photo encouraged.
  • πŸŽ– Runners-Up: Award certificates.
  • Thank all players and parents for their effort and support.


πŸ“‹ Notes for Coaches:


  • Bring all awards and certificates to the venue.
  • Update the final scoreboard with last tallies.
  • Encourage parents to take photos at the end.
  • Optional: Organise a small team cheer or handshake line to end on a high.
