Almost any passing drill can be scaled, and the easiest dials are the feed, the space and the target. For beginners, feed by hand from close range, let them catch-and-release before they pass properly, and give them a big target area so a decent platform counts as a success. To make it harder, move to a racket or a spiked feed, add distance, then shrink the target so the pass has to be accurate rather than just up. After that, take away their certainty: feed to either side without telling them, or add a second ball so they have to read before they move. Keep the drill the same and change one dial at a time â players stay familiar with the shape while the difficulty climbs.
