Hey. im doing a camp for tennis in the holidays, but im not actually coaching tennis, ive gota coach them 'ball skills' for like hand and eye coordination etc etc.. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas... ?
Pair players up along each side of alley. Each player gets a ball. Start with each player bouncing the ball to their partner (at the same time) and taking a side step either towards the net or towards the fence. Idea is to focus on catching the incoming ball and keep the ball exchange going (by making a toss or bounce that your partner can catch). As they improve, one can bounce while the other tosses in the air. Then both toss. The real test comes when you give them two balls each and ask them to toss both balls at the same time their partner tosses their balls and then catch both incoming balls all while taking a side step. You can point out that most will assume an athletic stance (knees bent, on balls of feet, head up, etc) as they move to the ball.
