Four positions:
1. Server (may be a coach)
2. Returners (more than one—alternate after each return)
3. Volleyers (more than one—poach and then circle back in line)
4. Person in the Hot Seat
Server hits serve, return must go cross court/middle
Volleyer poaches (don't leave too early) and tries to volley off the court, away from "hot seat" player
If "hot seat" player can reach the volley, play out the point with the volleyer in the half court
On-court coaching is now fully legal, technology continues to advance, and the ATP calendar evolves. Here's what tennis coaches need to know for 2026.
Tennis demands a unique combination of endurance, power, agility, and flexibility. Physical preparation determines how long careers last and how players perform when it matters most.
Ecological dynamics is transforming tennis coaching. This constraints-led approach develops adaptable, creative players who can solve problems in competition, not just execute drilled patterns.
