SKILL 1 – BALL SKILLS: 10 Minutes
SET-UP: Form an incomplete rectangle with the pizza's opposite each other. Each child has their OWN pizza and BASKETBALL (remind them of the rule with the ball)
Make sure every child is standing on a pizza and holding their ball. Perform the following with the group:
1. Strength test - Child hold’s basketball with 2 hands whilst coach comes around to hit it making sure it doesn't fall out)
2. Drums (slapping the ball changing hands)
3. Throw-Catch (small throws, try stay on the pizza)
4. Rolly Polly (figure 8) Make a bridge with your legs and roll the ball between both feet.
5. Stomach Wraps - Rotating the ball around YOUR belly
6. V Dribbling: Legs apart (like a V), ball in between legs, boucing basketball between legs)
7. V Drums: Ball in between legs, playing the drums.
8. Bounce - Catch When explaining have the kids sitting on the pizza so they don't start bouncing the ball when your talking. Children step off their pizza and perform a simple bounce and catch
