In this drill players wil start on the white cones, middle player will start with the ball, once a whistle has been blown, players will run their repective cones (staright lines are where the player runs), the player with the ball will throw to the person on their right (passes are shown with the dotted lines) last player to get passes the ball will complete a layup then the person who had passed them the ball will rebound (players on the outside on both sides) those players will then turn into the offensive side and the three middle players will be the defensive side, offence will then run down and start a game. after it finishes they will rotate right and try a different position.
Rebounding is the least glamorous thing in basketball and one of the most decisive. It is also almost entirely a habit, which means it is entirely coachable.
Good spacing is only the start. The best modern offences teach players to attack the defence's rotations and play in a permanent 4-on-3 - here is how to coach that read.
The ball screen produces almost half of all professional offensive possessions, yet most teams still teach it as a memorised play. The modern approach trains the read - giving players a framework to decide based on what the defence does, not what the coach called.
