WARM-UP: Defensive Slides:
Have children sit across the baseline to see how the drill works. (start the group chat like this)
SET-UP: Place cones like in the diagram using half a half court as a guide. Children line up behind the 2 starting cones like in the image.
When the whistle blows, the first 2 children sprint to the cone in front, as they get close to touching the cone, they chop up their steps and scream BALL, BALL, BALL with their other hands up as if they were stopping a defender.
They then touch the cone, slide to the cone on the side then jog backwards to the end of the line. Keep the line moving quickly.
VARIATION - Reverse the slide: When they touch the cone, they face the other direction to perform their defensive slide
