hello
As many as they want. When my oldest was that age he took a couple of private lessons each week and then I hit with him as much as he wanted. Usually an hour every morning before school. It was great time together and a great start to the day.
Of course I never forced either of my boys to get on the court. Doing that will ruin them and make them hate playing tennis.
How well did your oldest do with this approach. Did you plan the hour according to a pre set program. Ok, you say you hit with him. I understand that you just hit the ball back and forth?
My 9-year-old daughter has days when she "hates" hitting, then others when she needs to hit. So, I take it whenever she feels "it". But, this time of year, she's playing four days a week for 1 1/2 hours during here summer rec. sessions with the local high school tennis coach. Plus, she swims almost daily after her training. We play on weekends as a family and keep fit FUN.
At this age, it should be all about fun. As long as the player is wanting to be out there let them. Forcing them causes burn out.
"It is not only useful for staff who are experienced but a valuable tool for those subject staff who have to take teams."
The variety of sessions across sports - sometimes we steal session ideas from one sport and use them with another.
As we enter the business end of the competition, we take a look at the remaining eight teams and the key talking points surrounding each side.
