Volleyball: Set, Push and Catch drill Over Net

DESCRIPTION

Two players, one either side of the net. Push the ball in to the air before the set to partner, partner then catches the ball, pushes it into the air and sets to partner.

COACHING POINTS

Knees bent upon catching the ball to simulate defensive dig.
When pushing the ball into the air or setting stay tall on balls of feet, keep elbows bent and push through the ball with fingers keeping eyes on the ball.

Jump and Throw - Spike development:

Players have a ball each and make an attacking approach with the ball in hand.

As they reach the net they should put the ball behind their head, jump and throw the ball over the net into the opposition court.

3 Grass roots

Throw and Catch 2:

Throw the ball in the air using two hands, move to where the ball is coming down then jump and catch the ball at the highest point of the jump with arms fully extended.

VST:CATCH IN VOLLEY POSITION

Defensive Dig and Push Drill over the net:

A defensive dig before a push into the air and then sets across the net to player 2.

MVT:FOREARM PASS

Jumping to Spike:

Players move towards the net as the coach feeds the ball up.

Players must position themselves close to the net and aim to catch the ball at the peak height, with both arms up in the air.
