Volleyball: Ball arm to arm

DESCRIPTION

Players start with the ball in one hand.

Players lift the ball across their body and allow it to bounce once.
Players side-step following the movement of the ball, ensuring they are in position for the next stage of the drill.
Now catch the ball in their other hand and repeat in the opposite direction.

COACHING POINTS

This is a good warm up, for getting players to feel the ball and getting on their toes as they follow the flight of the ball.

OFTEN USED WITH...

Ball Slalom:

Place a few balls on the baseline and spread them out. Players move in and out between the balls, moving as if they were in defence. Make sure players avoid contact with the balls.

2 Warm Up

2 Player Passing Drill:

Two players stand about 10m apart, and underarm pass to each other. The cross on the floor is the area where the ball must bounce. Drill enhances passing accuracy.

3 Grass roots

Defensive Dig and Push Drill over the net:

A defensive dig before a push into the air and then sets across the net to player 2.

MVT:FOREARM PASS

Grassroot serving:

2 players, 1 ball. The player serving has to hit the ball over the net so that the other player can catch the ball.

If they are successful 3 times in a row the player can take a step back and move closer to the back line.

Once players reach the back line they can swap roles.
