DESCRIPTION

Players start in the corner and overhand passes the ball to zone 2 before running onto their pass. From here, they set the ball directly to a target.

The target can be anything from another player, to a cone, or even to a netball ring as shown in the video.

COACHING POINTS

The setter must be mobile as they will set the ball from various positions throughout a game. Also, to help bluff an opponent, it is important to learn to set the ball to different positions.

PROGRESSION

Put more targets on the court so that the setter has more to aim for like they would in a game.

Get Up and Set:

Players start by lying on their back on the baseline. When the coach whistles, they quickly get up and overhand pass the ball to themselves while moving forwards and backwards from the net.

10 Setting Drills

Pass Over The Net And Set:

The player starts in the opponent's zone 3 and overhand passes the ball over the net to zone 3 on the other side of the court. They then move under the net before setting the ball directly to a target.

The target can be anything from another player, to a cone, or even to a netball ring as shown in the video.

4 Passing Drills

Zone 3 Spin And Set:

Player starts behind the attack line and overhand passes the ball to zone 3 and runs forward to the net. Once in zone 3, the player overhand passes the ball high, before turning around and setting the ball directly to a target.

The target can be anything from another player, to a cone, or even to a netball ring as shown in the video.

10 Setting Drills

Lay and Set:

This drill can be performed in pairs, or players can perform it individually against a wall.

Players lay on their front and overhand pass the ball to each other, with players aiming to get as many passes between each other without the ball touching the floor.
