DESCRIPTION

A great drill to work on hand- eye coordination and reaction skills.

DRILL TYPE: Hand-Eye Coordination

FOCUS: Tracking Skills

TYPE: Partner 

SETUP:


  1. Pair up the players and spread them out around the court.
  2. One player has 2 red or 2 orange balls.
  3. Partners start about 4 feet apart.

MISSION:


  1. Toss a ball out to the side.
  2. Partner pushes towards ball and catches with one hand after bounce.
  3. Catch a ball with your right hand on the right side of the body and your left hand on the left.
  4. After 4 successful catches on each side, switch roles.
  5. Need help- Catch the red ball with 2 hands or cones from the side.

PROGRESSION:


  1. LEVEL 1: Alternating catching on the left side and on the right side.
  2. LEVEL 2: Hold your arms straight out to the side.
  3. LEVEL 3: Move a racquet length back.

TIPS:


  1. Use orange balls to catch ( they are easy to catch.
  2. Keep your eye on the ball.
  3. Keep your knees bent.

SAFETY:


  1.  Ensure players are well spread out.
