DESCRIPTION

DRILL TYPE: Hand-eye coordination

FOCUS: Racquet Skills

EQUIPMENT:

  1. (12) Cones
  2. (1) Baskets of Red/Foam Balls

SETUP:

  1. The coach is on the other side of the net.
  2. The players are lined up behind the service line.
  3. Divide your players into two groups and every player holds a upside down cone in their hands.

MISSION:

  1. The coach will toss a ball for the first player in one of the lines.
  2. The player will attempt to catch the ball, after one bounce, in the upside down cone.
  3. If the player does it successfully, the player gets 1 point for their team.
  4. The coach will then feed a ball to the first player from the other line, and so on.
  5. The first team to score seven points wins.

NOTE:

  1. The feeds should be done based on the players hand-eye coordination level ( lower or higher bounce).
  2. This drills is is good for hand-eye coordination and movement while watching the ball.
  3. Low compression balls should be used with younger players.

 

COACHING POINTS

  1. Players should keep their knees bent and back straight.
  2. Watch the ball.
