Three players on attack and three players on defence. The objective is for the offencive team to utilise all possible attacking options between the centre, small forward and point guard. these three players will form a triangle shape with each other. Example; The point guard will dribble across the top of the perimetre and pass to the small forward who explodes from the pocket to receive the ball. the player then passes to the centre who is posting up on his defender. Once the centre receives the ball the centre will take one dribble towards the centre of the key and then go up for a hook shot. This is one example of an attacking play from the 41 offensive structure. The purpose of the 41 offensive structure is to make the players aware that there are many attacking opportunities from this structure.
