In a channel no wider than 10m, two attackers have 5 attempts to score a try on the red cones. The attackers try to create space and beat the defenders by running good support and holding lines.

This is a basic 2 vs 2 drill to allow players to progress from a simple 2 v 1. In a channel no wider than 10m, 2 attackers have 5 attempts to score a try on the red cones. The attackers try to create space and beat the defenders by running good support and holding lines.

Agility Slalom - Race

Set up the cones as shown. 12 Cones with 2 balls. Start with 2 players on the centre cone, each with a ball, and facing each other. On GO, the both run backwards to the first cone then side step up the grid to the second cone before running through the slalom cones back to the start where the ball is passed to the next players who only go when each player has received a ball.

The first player runs around the red cone and back down to the start of the slalom. There the player zig-zags up the slalom, then back down before running around the second red cone and down to the second group of players where the ball is passed to the next player Important no more then a max of 3 players per slalom to make sure that there is lots of activity.

Place 2 players in the centre. Both players pass to those running the circle. Notice that the gap between the passer and the catcher has narrowed because there are now 2 players acting as passers.

Set-up a 10 meter grid with a player on each corner. Player 1 starts with the ball. Player 1 passes the ball to player 2 and then quickly moves off their cone and runs to the cone where player 2 is and back to their cone. Player 2 then passes to player 3, follows the pass to the position of player 3 and back to their starting position. The aim is to for the players to be back in their starting position before the ball returns back.

Starting with their backs to one another, two players stand 5 metres apart and run off in opposite directions along one side of the 20 metre grid. At the corners of square each player cuts back into the grid and the player with the ball attempts to score by running with the ball into the far corner. The blue player's objective is to tackle them and prevent them from scoring.

3 vs 2 in a grid. Defenders must stay in position to start. Once skills progress defenders can move to try and stop attackers either by intercepting the ball or touch tackling the ball carrier.

SAQ (Speed, Agility, Quickness) drill for warm ups, handling the ball and warming up muscles. 4 or 5 small SAQ hurdles, 1 ladder Make up course of your choice and run through giving various commands. After the ladder you can put two cones left and right about 2 metres ahead to give commands left or right etc.

Set up the practice as shown above. 40m x 20m Grid. Groups of 4 Player start in the bottom right corner and on the command sprint as a group before doing 5 press ups. They then side step left to the next set of cones to do 5 sit ups before sprinting to do press ups. The group follow this routine until the end before the next group go.

Good for warm ups and handling the ball under fatigue. 4 or 5 hurdles, cones for variations. Keep body square on when receiving ball and have one or two players working consecutively. Give target to receive the ball. When working around cones make sure to reach the mark and work hard to next hurdle. Finish by sprinting to designated point whereby more variation can be added.

Number of players : up to 10 in a group. Each player should have a tag belt. Each player should partner up with someone and then proceed to stand side by side. On the coaches call the players run to that sideline. If the coach calls 1 for example they have to run to the sideline before the 2s can catch them.

3 on 2 Attack and Defence Dril...

Set an area with two different coloured cones on the touch line in the middle, one for defenders and one for attackers. At the prompt of the coach the players run around designated cones and attack the defenders to score. Ball carrier should initiate the attack by attacking the inside shoulder of the first defender to stop a drift defence. Draw the first defender and make the pass to your next support runner who should do the same to pass to the outside runner who can go and score. Once attacked three or four times players should swap to defence but not every single time to create continuity and positive development.

two lines of players opposite each other in 2 lines. one of the teams has the ball and has to pass the ball along each player in the line. The player in possession of the ball when the coach calls out go has to run around the cone at the end of the grid to try and run the full length of the grid to score a try. The player from the opposition in line with the player that is running can try to stop the player scoring by running around the cone and tagging the runner before they reach the line.

Problems with inserting sketches to plans - Resolved

Is anyone else having difficulties adding their own sketches to plans. I can get as far as "choose a sketch" and then it jumps back to the plan. the pre-fab'd sportsplan ones are fine, but I can't add my own! I emailed the technical support team 2 days ago but have yet to have received a reply.If anyone can help, it would be a huge help!Rich.

Why does the catching player of two full backs nearly always pass to the other full back instead of running with the ball?

Tagging drill I now can;t find

I saw a video that was what looked like a tagging warm up. It showed player in pairs both with a different coloured tags lying on the ground. One pair were running and trying to tag and not get tagged then one player dropped into another group and that person jumped up and became the tagger ....i think. I liked the look of the drill now cannot find it. From my description, do you know what it ws?Thansk
