1 player hits 4 balls anywhere into the field. Once the batter has hit all the balls they run around all 4 posts as many times as possible, before the fielders get all the balls back into the square.

1 player hits 4 balls anywhere into the field. Once the batter has hit all the balls they run around all 4 posts as many times as possible, before the fielders get all the balls back into the square.

ball hit into the right field ...

When the ball is hit into the right field between the 1st post and the back line. it is important that fielder 4 tries to gather the ball and player 5 covers this fielder in case player 4 misses it. At player 1  runs to 2nd post and player 2 runs to 4th post. covered by player 8 and 9 respectively. This will give the fielder gathering the ball the option of throwing to 1st post if ball was hit short to 2nd post if ball was hit long and to 4th post if the ball was missed and picked up by covering fielder or miss throw to 2nd post.

Backing up the post Ground Fie...

Players work in groups of four. With one feeder and one fielder stood on a post, with another two players backing up behind the post player, in a triangle formation. The fielder throws the ball to the post players for them to catch. Every time the ball is thrown the backing up players should get behind the post player, ready to stop the ball in case the player misses the catch. After 10 throws each players rotate in a clockwise direction.

Post person calls a number or colour cone, worker runs around that cone, feeder passes the ball in and passes it to the post player CP eye on the ball, set yourself before you catch and then release with body weight moving towards the target. Development – add a runner who can put pressure on the post player.

One player is batter, one as back-stop, one as first base and other deep fielding. The bowler feeds the ball to the batter. The batter gets several balls feed them to practice hitting.

For this practice you need 8 players per group. Set out 4 cone in a square about 5 metres apart. Set out 2 flags a further 5 - 10 metres away from the square . and finally a finishing post. The race is for the runner to beat the ball being thrown via every gold player to the finishing post.

Spot Hits Batting - Rounders D...

Set up in groups of 5.3 different coloured spots are placed in a triangle in front of the batter, with 3 fielders placed directly in line with the spots about 5m away.Player 3 bowls a tennis ball to player 1 who tries to hit the ball with their hand to players 2, 3, and 4.Group rotates after 3 hits i.e 1 to 5, 5 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 1.

Divide players into two teams, one fielding and one batting. The fielding team bowls 4 consecutive balls to a better. Once the batter has hit all 4 balls into the field, all of the batters on the batting team must run around all the bases at the same time, as many times as they can before all of the balls have been returned by the fielding team. The next batter then does the same, and all of the batters run when all 4 balls have been hit. Do this for each batter on the batting team, before the fielding team goes in to bat. Winner is the team with the most rounders scored.

Using the Bowling Box Throwing...

Set Up: 4 players, cones, posts, hoops, rounders balls. The drill: The bowler (1) bowls the ball through the hoop. They must bowl from each back corner of the bowling box. The batter (4) holds the hoop at a variety of heights and angles. The backstop (2) takes the ball and throws it to the player on first post (3). The backstop then runs to the 4th post to receive the ball from player 3.

Kick Ball Rounders Conditioned...

Set up: Pitch marked out in the same shape as a normal rounders pitch with cones 6m apart. Split players into two small teams (no more than 5v5). Use a size 4/5 size sponge/plastic ball Rules: The bowler throws the ball underarm with a bounce from the bowling box to the batting box. The batter can hit the ball with any part of their body. Once the batter has hit the ball they then run around the 4 bases. They can stop at any base. The fielders then field the ball into the bowler to stop the batter from running on. Gradually more rules are introduced once the principles of play have been learned.

5 players 4 balls. Player in the middle receives the ball from one of the players and returns it then turns to the next player and repeats this 3 times round all 4 players.

Back Stop Reaction Drill Back ...

Set Up: 4 players - bowler, batter, back stop, and 1st post. Rounders balls, post, cones. The Drill: Bowler bowls the ball to the batter (batting with a cone). They attemt to tip it through to the back stop to take. The backstop reacting to the tip off the cone sends the ball to 1st post. Bowler bowls 6 good balls then the players rotate.

Players work in groups of 5, in a grid with 5 cones set up in a zig-zag formation, roughly 7 metres apart.Each player stands on a cone. All players, except for those queueing behind the first cone require balls.On the coach's call player 1, on the first cone, aims to get to collect the ball that has been dropped from shoulder height by the player on the cone in front of them, before the ball bounces twice.This is one pick-up.Player 1 then gives the ball back to the player on the cone, and sets themself before the coach gives the next call.Again the working player aims to get to the next ball before second bounce.This process is repeated until all players have performed 4 pick-ups.

Circle Ball Conditioned games ...

1 catcher, 5 attackers, and 3 defenders. Cones, tennis ball or rounders ball.There are always more attackers than defenders.Catcher starts in the inner circle and is on the same team as the attackers. The 3 defenders are in the next ring, and the rest of the attackers are in the outer ring.The attackers aim to get the ball to the catcher, and for the defenders to try and intercept.Attackers may pass the ball around the outside of the circle to each other to create space.Teams can move but must stay in their own circle. They are not allowed in anyones else's.Underarm throwing only.Points System: Defenders 1 point for a touch, and 5 points for a catch. Attackers get 1 point every time the catcher receives the ball.

Split the group into teams of 5. One team throwing the ball around posts. One team running around the posts. The ball starts by the batting square and has to be thrown to post one then 2 then 3 then 4 then back to the batting square. The running team have to run and tag. The first player in the batting square has to run to tag 1st post player this player has to run to release the player at 2nd post etc until the player on the forth post is tagged and runs back to the batting square. Start again when ball and players are back in position again. Best of 5 runs.

2 Teams, 2 Balls. One of the teams starts throwing the ball to each other. The other team then throws the ball around to try and overtake the ball from team 1. This practice works best with about 4 - 5 players per team.

Set up in 2's with 1 bat and a ball.The aim here is to keep the ball up in the air by hitting it lightly with the bat. If the ball hits the ground it becomes your partner's turn.

Set up:4 posts are set up in the shape of a diamond. Each post being 9 metres from the centre of the diamond.You need 3 teams of 4, 4 bats and 1 ball.Batting team each stand at a post. The other 2 teams take the bowler and fielding roles.<hr />The Drill:The bowler decides who to bowl to first, and the remaining 3 batters stand behind the post and make contact with it.The bowler bowls the ball for the batter to hit. The fielders can field the ball into any post to get any of the batters out.If a batter is out then their team loses 4 points. 1 point is scored for every post a batter reaches.Each team of 4 faces 6 good balls and the score is added up. After each ball the bowler can decide which batter to bowl to (it can be any of the 4 batters). The fielding team must react and move position, depending on which batter the bowler is bowling to.After 6 good balls the next team goes into bat.

Set up: Split players into two teams (no more than 5v5 - set up several mini-games if necessary). Pitch marked out with 2 goals. Size will depend upon your players' ability and numbers in the group but 20m by 10m is a good starting point. The Game: This is an invasion game and the aim is to score a goal by rolling the ball through the oppositions goal. Rules: Roll only to score. Cannot move with the ball, defending team must be a metre away from the player with the ball. <div class=&quot;&quot;practiceText&quot;&quot;>If the ball hits an attacking players' foot in open play the ball is given to the defending team. If the ball hits your team's foot from an attempt at goal then a penalty is awarded. The penalty is taken from behind the half way line and only one player can defend it from the corner of the pitch. On the coach's call of &quot;GO&quot; the attacker rolls the ball and the defender can run across to defend the shot.</div>

Set up: Players in the middle (players 2 and 3) stand back to back and opposite their partners (players 1 and 4), about 5 metres apart, but they gradually move further away up to a distance of 9 metres (this is distance from bowler to batter). Player work in teams of 4. The Game: Player throw the ball back and forth and are listening to instructions from the coach. Players are not allowed to move with the ball and are throwing underarm to their partner's waist.

In groups of 4 with one ball. One player throws the ball up for the front player in the line to come forward and catch the high ball. After catching the ball the player throws the ball back to the initial thrower and goes to the back of the line of players catching the ball.

If a batter reaches 2nd post and 3rd is stumped, but then the ball is throw and not caught by the bowler, can the batter continue her run to 3rd and 4th? Would she be out, would she score half, would she score a full rounder?
