3 Style Shooting

Set up 3 cones (or poles) spaced as shown in the diagram. Have a mannequin positioned on either side of the middle, just before the penalty box. Have a Player positioned on the backline to the left side in the penalty box with a ball. Have another Player (W) positioned out wide to the right side with a ball. A Player starts halfway between the centre circle and goal; dribbles the ball around the cones and in between the mannequins to take a shot. After first shot, Player quickly moves around the left hand mannequin and gets a cross from the wide player. Then the Player recovers around the right hand mannequin to receive the ball from the player on the goal line. Rotate the players around ever play (shooter > winger > backline player > shooter line)

Crossing and finishing

Set up: 3 Attacking players from each team on each side of one half, taking it in turns. If you have 2 GKs then have a GK for each team Attacking players A1, A2 and A3 positioned as shown in diagram. Description: A1 passes to A3, and runs towards the penalty area. A2 runs behind A3 to the upper right corner of the field to be passed the ball. A3 then also runs into the penalty area. Out of the 2 strikers running in, the first person who gets to the box is the one who takes the front post. This will usually be A1 as they started running in first. Therefore A3 takes the back post. A2 crosses in and A1/A3 finishes. The opposition have the same set up the other side and they go while the other team is setting up again. Swap the GK for the opposition Having 2 teams makes the drill competitve The teams switch sides after 10 crosses. After 10 crosses each on each side the team who gets the most goals wins and you can make the other team do a forfeit. (For example a high intensity run)

Passing wide to cross and finish

Set up: Cone off an area 2 areas: Width 44 yards length 20 yards one above the other. At each side of one area have an extra square of 5 yards. Set up a 2 goals, one at the top of the areas and one at the bottom. Red team players: GK, 2 Defenders in the bottom area, 2 Attackers in the top area and 2 wingers, one in each 5 yard square. Blue team players: GK, 2 Defenders in top area, 2 Attackers in bottom area. Description: Red team start with the ball. Passes: GK -> Defender (or straight to winger) -> winger Winger crosses to one of the Attacking players who can either pass the ball to the other Attacker or take a shot. If Blue team win the ball then they can go for goal although they don't have the same wide options.

Pull back

Players run towards the cone and when they are about to go past the cone they pull back the ball with the sole of the boot and change direction to run at the next cone. This is a good practice for repetition.

Dribbling

Shoot, Recover, Finish

Make a pitch from the edge of one penalty box to the same the other end, full width. Set up a goal with a GK at each end. A group of Attackers start in the centre circle. A group of Defenders start offset to the left of them. The coach feeds the ball in to and Attacker and they run forward to a 1 vs 1 situation with 1 Defender. The Attacker should take on the Defender and attempt to score. Once the Attacker has taken a shot they recover in an arc to receive a ball cross in from the right side. As this is going on, when the GK at the other end has seen the coach pass the first ball then they pass the ball to a player in the fullback position out to the right (F). F passes the ball down the line to a winger (W), who will be the one to cross the ball in after the Attacker has taken their first shot. At the same time the exact same is happening at the other end of the pitch. Players move positions: The Attacker becomes the F for the other side, attacking in the other direction. F follows their pass to become the W, the W joins the line of Attackers. Rotate the Defenders after 5 minutes. Play different progressions/variations for about 30 minutes in total. Includes breaks for water and feedback to the players

Players run towards the cone and when they are about to go past the cone they pull back the ball with the sole of the boot and change direction to run at the next cone. This is a good practice for repetition.

Farmers and Foxes Conditioned ...

The foxes (players) put bibs into the back of their shorts. The farmer (coach) runs around the area attempting to pull the bibs out. When a players bib is pulled out, he becomes a farmer too. Play until 1 fox is left. The players must remain within the confines of the area throughout the activity. Any player running outside the area, automatically becomes a farmer.

Set up as shown with cones evenly spaced out. The distance between the cones can be modified depending on your players abilities. Players dribble through the cone performing 1 touch with the interior and a roll across their body to get through the cones without touching them, neither with the ball nor their feet.

Leave the Ball Behind Dribblin...

Set up a square roughly 10m x 10m.Have a few players at each corner.In 2 of the corners (diagonal) a player starts with a ball. They run clockwise around the square to the next corner. When they reach the corner they put their foot on the ball to stop it so that the player at that corner can take it over immediately.The ball moves clockwise around the square.Repeat anticlockwise after each player has dribbled the ball a few times.

One v One Racing Cars Dribblin...

Two players with one ball per pair. Player 1 and player 2 juggle to decide who starts with the ball. If player 1 wins, he/she begins with the ball and player 2 begins at a disadvantage (i.e. on one knee, on both knees etc.) Player 1 must dribble through as many gates as possible while player 2 must try to win possession of the ball and do the same. Each gate is worth one point. One circuit should last no more than 2 minutes. Note: A player may not go through the same gate until they have been through another gate.

Football: Right to left beatin...

This practice can best used to help players practice the beating of the player from left to right. Players run to just beyond the first cone and use a move to bring the ball across and infront of the 2nd cone, to then be taken forward and around the cone to the other side where another player could be waiting to take the ball and return practicing the same skill.

Football: Rats and Rabbits - D...

1 ball per player. Players should perform fast footwork drills - either with the inside of the foot to inside of foot or toe tapping on top of the ball. When the coach shouts out "Rats!", the players at the top of the diagram must attempt to chase the other players. The object of the game is for the player in pursuit to tag his opposing partner on the back of the shoulders before he reaches the end line. Players return to the middle discs after each attempt. Repeat and rotate directions. The team in pursuit attempts to strike their ball to hit the opposing player on or below the knee.

Set out two lines of six discs approximately 5 yards apart. Station 1 player by each disc. One ball per player. One team is the "Rats" and the others the "Rabbits". When the coach calls out "Rabbits", the rabbits team chase the rats to the end line. The rabbits must tag the rats before they reach the safety of their end line. Repeat in the opposite direction when the coach calls out "Rats".

Using 4 cones set out in a square 5m x 5m. Players in pairs run alon the length of one side and pass the ball from righ to left on the move to the other player who receives the ball with their left foot. then turn and run back to the cone they started from to pass the ball right to left back to the other player (with the right foot).

Quickfire Dribbling - Soccer D...

2 players, with one ball per pair stand between two cones. Players face each other in the centre of an imaginary line between two cones 10 metres apart. On the coaches command "1-2-3 Quickfire", the players must perform a dragback or Cruijff turn and take the ball past the cone behind. If the player passes the cone before being tackled he/she wins a point.

Fish Tank Conditioned games - ...

Set up a 10 x 10 area fish tank (any shape you see fit - diamond, square, circle, etc) and set up small goals on the outside.Have 4 players on the outside of the fish tank with a ball each.1 player in the middle without a ball.The players (fishes) on the outside try to go across the tank without the player in the middle (shark) taking their ball. If the player in the middle takes the ball he/she tries to play it outside the area into one of the goals.
