Is there a way I am able to teach people how to jump?

My team can't dunk, is there a way of teaching a technique to jumping higher?

Here's a simple drill I used to do to encourage players to jump as high as possible:

Standing Jump

Description:

Players stand with one arm by their side and the other up, above their head, with a piece of chalk in that hand.

When ready they should try to jump as high as possible. when they think they're at the peak of their jump they should use the chalk to make a mark on the wall.

You can then measure this mark and find out which players on your team are the best jumpers.

Coaching Points:

If you make this a competition you can encourage players to try hard to out jump one another.

In the interests of fairness you can also factor in players' heights. so the height jumped is:

Chalk mark on the wall minus the players's height.

The first thing you need to do is teach your players jumping technique. Make sure your players have a good base about shoulder width apart. Bending the knee's to a quarter squat position and using their arms to propel them into the air. When they land make sure knee's are slightly bent to absorb contact.

There are many video's on the internet showing great jumping form.

After the form is correct and players are old enough 15+ they can start doing Plyometric and strength training to build stronger and more explosive muscles.
