Hi, How can i get my 11-year old to play more aggressively?
I think that if you can get them into as many game type situations BEFORE the actual game is always good. I tend to get my girls to go 2 on 2 in the keyhole and you can only get out of the "scrimmage" situation if you score a bucket...makes them work to get off court
The best way to get a youth player to be more aggressive to have aggressive drills in practice. The coach must stress aggressivenes. This includes communication. Some aggressive drills that I like are the box-out/post-up drill in the free throw circle. The animal drill. Also some players have a fear of "skinning their knees" so some knee pads will give them a little more confidence to be more aggressive.
But players will typically play they way they are coached in practice. So a good aggressive style practice will help improve your kids. Good Luck.
