Volleyball: One legged balance jumps

As someone who is new to coaching this site was just what I needed,...
Phil

DESCRIPTION

Players start by standing on one leg.

Keeping a balanced body position, they jump and change legs so they land on the other leg (so if jumping from the right leg they land on their left leg).

COACHING POINTS

At the beginning this might be difficult to perform as players develop strength and balance.

Firstly, players need to stay balanced and stand on noticeably bent leg. Secondly, all jumps should be as high as possible.

This drill aims to improve jumping abilities, balance and strengthen quadriceps and knee joint.

PROGRESSION

To add progression you can ask players to jump and landing on the same foot 10 times in a row and then change the standing/jumping leg.
