DESCRIPTION

The player stands inside the service line between 2 cones, and the coach throws the high ball close to the net. The player moves forward, hits overhead and recovers to the cones.

COACHING POINTS

Small details decide about smash's effectiveness so that is why the coach should work on specific areas in close situations. Many players miss the balls while hitting over the head because their positioning to the ball is poor.

In this drill the player works on overhead while moving forward. Players has to move as quickly as possible to keep the point of contact high and slightly in front of the body. The coach should look for balanced position while the player is hitting to guarantee good consistency.
